Regional Chamber, Valley Leaders Visit Cuba to Explore Exporting Opportunities

The group, comprising elected officials, companies and consultants, was exposed to Cuban culture, specific business opportunities and Cuban education and government officials.

Regional Chamber Developing Business Ties with Germany

The Youngstown/Warren Regional Chamber continued its international business push Thursday when a German business consultant visited northeast Ohio.

 

Regional Chamber Vice President for Economic Development, North America Sarah Boyarko joined a group of northeast Ohio economic development leaders that welcomed Michael Muench, a professional consultant for international business, economic development and social media marketing. Muench, who operates out of Bochum, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany, is the director of JobsOhio’s German Foreign Direct Investment Office.

 

 

Regional Chamber Explores Business Opportunities in India

Business opportunities in India are expected to develop for local companies following a meeting with two executives from the Youngstown Warren Regional Chamber.


Regional Chamber President and CEO Tom Humphries and Vice President of Economic Development, North America Sarah Boyarko joined a group of Northeast Ohio business leaders for discussions with India Consul General Dnyaneshwar M. Mulay and Deputy Consul General Manoj Kumar Mohapatra. The Indian officials provided updates on the latest opportunities for U.S. companies interested in investing or doing business with India.

 

Regional Chamber hosts Cuba Delegates

Many local companies met recently to prepare for Cuban export opportunities as the island nation and the U.S. continue forging diplomatic relations.  Minister Counselor (Economic & Trade Office) Ruben Armos Arrieta of the Embassy of the Republic of Cuba in Washington D.C., discussed those emerging opportunities with officials from the Youngstown Warren Regional Chamber and local business representatives from agricultural, construction, telecommunications, transportation, fashion and art companies.
 

Chamber VP in Montreal to Explore Business Opportunities

August 18, 2015

The Youngstown Warren Regional Chamber pursued several economic development leads during an invitation-only, site consultant forum in Montreal that was part of the international Association of Chamber of Commerce Executives annual convention.

Regional Chamber Vice President of Economic Development, North America Sarah Boyarko, was one of approximately 20 invited to the site selection forum.  While in Montreal, Boyarko scheduled separate meetings with Canadian site consultant CBRE Group, Inc. She discussed the potential for joint ventures with Valley companies, expansion opportunities and the possibility of exporting local products into Canadian markets.

Panama Canal Expansion Offers Opportunties Along Ohio River

From Cincinnati.com article Panama Canal Expansion Shipping Jobs to Ohio:

...Since 2007, the canal has been the center of a $5 billion project, the first serious upgrade since it was opened in 1914. The expansion, expected to be complete next year, will allow larger ships to make it through to the East Coast, leading to cheaper shipping to and from Asia.  Although it's discouraging news for West Coast ports, for the East and Midwest, the shift in shipping traffic will be an economic boost.
"It really improves our position in terms of distribution out and shipping our products internationally," said Chris Manegold, CEO of the Economic Development Alliance of Southern Ohio.
