OPEI is a collaboration of Ohio SBDC Export Assistance Network at Youngstown State University, Northwest Commission of Pennsylvania and Youngstown/Warren Regional Chamber who have joined together to enhance international trade efforts and foreign direct investment in the eastern Ohio and western Pennsylvania region. This collaborative export initiative was organized as a resource to provide direct technical assistance to businesses, work with academic and government leaders on the impacts of international trade, and strengthen the overall regional economic environment.
From Brookings Institution:
"The OPEI shows a strong commitment to expanding global economic reach through the identification of regionally competitive strengths and an increase in exports. Drawing on data and best practices from the Global Cities Initiative, a joint project of the Brookings Institution and JPMorgan Chase, this is the kind of innovative action that is needed to ensure long-term economic success for businesses located in the 20-county area that are interested in expanding to global markets."
